As part of Greater Creatives focus on heritage a competition was set up which asked for sculpture designs from residents in the parish. The winning designs, of which there will be one seslected for each village/hamlet, will be turned into exciting wood sculptures by talented wood artist Andrew Frost. The winning designs will maybe have a link to our parish heritage and serve as a reminder that we should celebrate our environment and its rich history.
Local children at various schools in the parish were treated to a demonstration by Andrew, showing off his abilities starting with a simple block of wood to create a design which would hopefully inspire some very creative entries to the competition.
The working party now have the mammoth task of sifting through the entries to select our lucky winners who's designs will be worked on alongside Andrew to create final sculptures the parish can be proud of. Some tough descisions will no doubt have to be made (fuelled by plenty of coffee and tea!). Check back soon for updates on the winning entries.
