WE GOT INVITED TO RUN A DEVELOPMENT PHASE SO THAT WE COULD SHARE OUR LEARNINGS AND APPLY FOR THE GRANT!
Proudly, we were 1 of the 14 communities selected to apply for the large grant nationally! Little ol’ Blackwell Parish did good! We were given 5 months and a pot of money to develop our ideas further! At first we felt a little bit ‘suspicious’ of the funder and wondered if a rug was going to be pulled from under us at some point. Sadly, this made us reflect upon how relationships with funders can manifest. Because this funder had such a fruitful understanding of what we were trying to do – it felt quite unusual. The process of ‘the doing’ and learning was just as valid as our achievements with the funder. This felt meaningful to us and that appreciation alone gave us the confidence to be more creative, organic, playful and bold. It felt empowering from the beginning and allowed us to focus on the project concept rather than ticking boxes.
