If you go down to Hilcote you may be in for a big surprise!
Bring the Paint is our current Greater Creative project designed to inject a bit of artistic flair into the local environment. Greater Creative have worked alongside Leicester based Graffwerk to bring large scale paintings to various areas of the parish that residents felt could do with a bit of a spruce up. The first redecoration task was to turn the storage container in Hilcote's Royal Oak Meadow And Woodland into something spectacular for the people that regularly use the space (and also to make it a bit of a destination for people to visit!).
After some consultation with the local H.E.L.P group (Hilcote Environmental and Leisure Project) to select a suitable design from those presented by Graffwerk, graffiti artist Jano set to work transforming the surface of the container.
There are more artworks planned for Blackwell, Westhouses and Newton. Two of these have had a lot of input from pupils at local primary schools who were really excited at the thought of being able to help brighten up some dull spots in the local area. Keep an eye out for those in the future, but for now take a look at some images of Hilcotes container and if you get the chance, go and see it in person!
