Wood Sculpture Installs
You may remember that last year we held our wood sculpture competition. We announced the winners in October and they were lucky enough to visit the workshop of wood sculptor Andrew Frost to discuss their designs and get a glimpse of the process before Andrew got to work carving the pieces.
We are pleased to announce that the sculptures are finished and have been popping up across the parish where we hope they'll be enjoyed by residents whilst out and about being active in the local countryside. Thanks to Derbyshire County Council and the rangers who helped us gain the necessary permissions to get the sculptures on display. As always huge thanks to our generous funders Creative Civic Change who's funding helps to make all of this wonderful creative activity possible.
There's an emphasis on our local heritage and community in the designs, the creators choosing to focus on our industrial past and also a nod to our local wildlife giving a sense of what we once offered and still offer to the world.
If you pass by any of the sculptures whilst you're out and about enjoying the great outdoors why not pose for a quick photograph and tag yourself on social media using the hashtag #GreaterCreative and pop it on our Facebook page? We'd love to hear what you think of the finished designs too!
